About
SPECIALIZED
The Sutter Metals company opened its doors in 2009 as Lacey Auto Recycling and was solely a vendor of used auto parts. Since then, the Sutter Metals family has grown from the ground up through local support and thus has evolved its services to respond to the local demand for salvaging various used metal material.
Chad Sutter is the owner and operator of the Sutter Metals company. His roots are grounded in Olympia soil as he was born and raised within the historical city. His passion for local service survives the commercial legacy of his father Ed Doench who was the long-time owner of Nisqually Auto Wrecking which sold used auto parts. Through his personal commitment to community service, Chad envisions a company that will continue to grow with the local community and provide a tailored service of satisfaction which supports a sustainable and profitable approach to recycling.

At Sutter Metals, our actions today shape the future for ourselves and our communities.
We are committed to turning challenges into opportunities. Every month, we recycle thousands of tons of scrap metal. As we aim to reduce our environmental footprint, we continue to expand as a one-stop recycling center for metal, electronics, cardboard, and plastics—driven by innovation and made possible by people.
Sutter Metals is a family-owned business that values both professional growth and long-term business development. As a company built by families, we know that our greatest asset is our team. That’s why we offer unmatched compensation and benefits—including comprehensive medical coverage and a retirement plan—to support every employee.
Community
As a locally owned and operated business, Sutter Metals embraces its social responsibility to its community. Our participation in local fundraisers and charities is an essential pillar to our company’s mission to a sustainable and growing local community. To date, our company employees have literally shared their hands-on talent and time to local food banks, school fundraisers and co-sponsorship of the local Boys and Girls Club, South Sound YMCA and St. Michael Parish.
We actively seek new opportunities to share our personal time and talents for the betterment of our local community within the Puget Sound Region.
