Sutter Metals, LLC is a busy and growing metal recycling facility with three locations in western WA. We are seeking a dependable, full-time candidate to provide customer service and administrative assistance from 8:00AM-4:30PM Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays from 8:00AM-2:30PM.
What You'll Do
Working as a part of a team, you will ensure each customer is provided friendly, expedited service as it pertains to answering common questions, finalizing and paying out customer rebates via cash as well as check. Administrative duties include: data entry using Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel and Word as well as providing customer service via phone, email and in-person.
Shift Duties:
- Use POS software to complete customer transactions
- Cash/check handling as well as till balance at shift start and end
- Answering business multi-line phone, directing calls as needed
- Responding, timely, via email to customer inquiries
- Working independently, as well as part of a team, under the direction of Office Manager and communicating with relevant yard staff to complete customer transactions.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year(s) experience of Customer Service
- 1+ year(s) experience with Microsoft Suite
- 1+ years(s) experience in cash handling
- Bilingual preferred but no required.

General Description: We are seeking two vehicle processors, preferably with experience in auto mechanics, dismantling and/or auto repair. Training provided on all necessary equipment.
Job Duties:
- Removing vehicle cores such as auto batteries, radiators, wheels/tires, convertors, etc.
- Processing waste fluids from recycled vehicles – emptying into proper receptacles.
- Safely operating equipment such as forklifts and wheel loaders to transfer vehicles in and out of processing bays as well as moving/emptying bins and containers.
- Responsible for maintaining clear and safe environment in processing area.
- Using hand tools such as saws, ratchets, pry bars to remove vehicle cores/parts.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen

General Description: Open Non-Ferrous Buyer positions at both Sutter Metals Lacey and Sutter Metals Tacoma. Job entails working with public and other businesses to properly grade, sort and purchase non-ferrous metals.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for grading, weighing, and generating purchase receipts of non-ferrous material at Sutter Metals’ facility.
- Using certified drop-scale to weigh and record quantities.
- Safely operating forklifts to situate and empty various containers/bins.
- Maintaining customer relations – EXTREMELY customer orientated. Regular contact with general public.
- Maintain and grow knowledge of non-ferrous material grades for accurate purchasing and informative interactions with clients.
- Communicating effectively with both office and yard staff via 2-way radio, phone and in person.
- Sorting material into storage containers such as gaylord boxes or metal bins.
- General labor will include maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Basic computer skills (tablet/laptop)

General Description:
Locally hauling scrap metals and heavy equipment using tractor-trailer [End-Dump, Dry-van, Landoll, Flatbed trailers]. Securing loads by hand.
Job Duties:
- Safely transport scrap metals to local vendor locations in timely, courteous manner.
- Complete and maintain daily pre-trip inspection reports.
- Communicate and follow delivery instructions from Manager/Dispatcher
- Frequent holding and grasping for loading, unloading, chaining, and netting to secure load.
- Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
Job Requirements:
- Must hold valid Washington Commercial Class A Driver’s License
- Must have acceptable DOT drug test result and history.
- At least two years of experience in Commercial Driving
- Aged 25 or above
- Must have and hold driving record in Good Standing. To be in Good Standing, driver must present a current DMV report with none of the following violations: DWI, homicide, reckless driving, drugs, leaving the scene WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS.
- Positive attitude and strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and coworkers.
- DILIGENT attention to safety.

General Description: Towing vehicles from various, local locations to Company base or other vendors. Communicating with Dispatch, providing courteous customer service, small amount of cash/check handling and working as a part of a team.
Job Duties:
- Safely operate flatbed tow truck to haul vehicles intended for recycling.
- Adhere to DOT safety requirements at all times / Maintain and complete daily pre-trip inspection reports.
- Maintain valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Communicate effectively with Dispatch, customer(s) and fellow team members
- Safe handling with minimal cash and company checks
- Hand-secure loads. Frequent grasping and holding for loading and unloading.
